The concluding episode of the Captain Morgan arc, this episode shows the fight between Morgan and Luffy.
Note:- I’m going to spell Koby’s name as Coby now. The reason why I used Koby in the first place was because there is no ‘Co’ in japanese, only ‘Ko’(romanized form, though both sound ALMOST the same). Well onward to the summary! ^_^
Zoro finally agrees to join Luffy’s crew. The marines are still shocked as to how Luffy survived their bullets. Captain Morgan tells his men that he must have eaten a Devil’s Fruit which gave him such an abilty, though all the mysteries of the Devil’s Fruit could only be solved in the Grand Line ocean. Morgan then orders his men to execute all of them with their swords since guns would have no effect on Luffy’s rubber body. The marines charge towards them while Luffy is still busy untying a knot. Zoro tells Luffy to toss his swords to him. The marines are just about to slice them up when Zoro gets free by cutting the ropes and blocks all their attacks with his three swords.
Note that Zoro uses the Santouryu style of sword fighting(three sword style). He carries two katanas in his two hands and one in his mouth.
Anyways, Zoro tells Luffy that he will only join Luffy’s crew if he doesn’t hinder his ambition of becoming the world’s greatest swordsman. Luffy simply replies by telling him that it was only fitting to have the world’s strongest swordsman as the Pirate King’s ally. Zoro then ducks and Luffy wipes out the marines with his Gomu Gomu no Muchi(muchi=whip). Morgan then attempts to fight Luffy himself, unsucessfully(gets beaten up badly). Just then Helmeppo takes Coby hostage by pointing a gun towards his head. Morgan takes this oppurtinity to knock of Luffy’s head with his axe. Just when he is about to do so, Zoro slashes his chest while Luffy uses Gomu Gomu no Pistol to knock out Helmeppo. When Luffy thanks Zoro, he merely replies with “It was nothing….Captain.” The rest of the marines rejoice on the defeat of Axe-Hand Morgan by Luffy since all of them had despised the tyrranical captain.
Meanwhile the orange haired girl(from the first two episodes) is busy tying up two marine soldiers. She enters a room hoping to find the map to the Grand Line. She opens a locker and finds instead, a note written by a certain Captain Buggy who had already found the map.
Back in the town, Zoro helps himself at Rika’s restaurant. Coby tells Luffy(AGAIN!) how dangerous the Grand Line is, so dangerous that it is known as the Graveyard of Pirates. When Zoro asks how big Luffy’s crew is, Luffy tells him that he’s the first member. Zoro is shocked even more when he sees Luffy’s pirate ’ship’(a small lifeboat with a sail XD). Coby is worried as usual and tells everyone that the Red Line was a stretch of land between the two great oceans and the water body running through the Red Line was the Grand Line ocean.
As they are about to leave, the marines enter the restaurant. The new captain tells them that they must leave immediately since their lives were at stake, as they were pirates. Since they were indebted to Luffy, they didn’t contact headquarters. As Luffy and Zoro leave, the captain asks Coby whether he was with the pirates. Luffy starts telling the captain all about when Coby was with the pirate Alvida. Coby gets angry since this would ruin his chance of becoming a marine and punches Luffy in the face. The captain pulls them apart concluding that he obviously wasn’t in league with Luffy. Coby asks the captain if he could join the marines and is accepted. The idiot then realizes that Luffy had aggravated him on purpose so that the marines did not suspect Coby of being a pirate. Coby is touched.
Outside, Luffy and Zoro get into their ’ship’. The orange haired girl is shown reading the message left by Captain Buggy and gets onto another boat. The entire town bids farewell to them, including Coby and the Marines. Zoro tells Luffy that they would now be hated since they were pirates. He then asks Luffy why he wanted to become the Pirate King so badly. Luffy tells him that he had promised the man who had given him his straw hat that he would become the Pirate King and he didn’t intend to break his promise. Saying this, they sail in the direction of whatever destination the wind and the currents would take them.
This episode is the concluding episode of the Axe-Hand Morgan Arc. Things are starting to get interesting, ne? Especially that suspicious looking orange-haired girl. It’s not for no reason that this anime has lasted since 1999….One Piece simply owns!!!
