Honestly, this is one of the FUNNIEST series’ that I’ve ever seen. The puns that they come up with in this show are pure genius! For a show using bread as its theme, this series is very well done.
Now moving on to what this show is about; it’s basically about a 16 year old boy Azuma Kazuma who possesses the Solar Hands(hands which naturally have a temperature above body temperature) . You know about English bread and French bread right? They’re breads which represent their respective countries in terms of taste, appearance, etc. Azuma Kazuma wishes to create a national bread for Japan which would replace rice as the staple food.
Note that the name of the show itself is a pun. ‘Pan’ means bread in Japanese and hence the name Ja’pan’ here is a pun on the word ‘pan’, as in the national bread of Japan. Yakitate means ‘freshly baked’, so there you have it, the translated name to the show: Freshly baked!! Japan! You should watch it if you haven’t already, the episodes are subbed by Anime-Empire.
